Searching for members of my birth family
I was born Barbara Sue Shank, on 04/13/1946, at State University Hospital, Iowa City. I have never made an effort to contact any member of my birth family. I have always considered myself to be very lucky. I grew up in a terrific home with wonderful parents and lots of extended family, and have always been grateful to my birth mother for making the choice to place me where she knew life would be better for me.
I have recently been curious to know if she's still living and if I have any siblings. I'm also searching because I'd like to find out more about family medical histories. Iowa law makes discovery all but impossible, so I've registered at several web-sites and will continue to search until I find somebody.
I was raised in Ames, Ia. I was placed, by my birth mother, with the American Home Finding Association, Ottumwa, IA, on 06/10/1946. I was adopted a year later by Kenneth & Elinor Thompson
