Sara,
Thank you for your comments!! I'll post my story in the next few days. If I can assist you with your search, I'd be happy to. I was born in Burlington and adopted through American HomeFinding Assn in Ottumwa. I had a lot of fantastic people who assisted me in my search, and I've been assisting others with their searches for about 10 yrs now.
Have a great day!
Eric

Made Progress searching birth records in Johnson County Recorder's office!!!!!!!!! I know my birth name!

My daughter and I went to the recorder's office in Johnson County to look up the birth records on my birthday. In JC, the "seal" that is placed over a baby's record is a sticker. We did not remove and stickers, but you could tell that people had done so. My record had been pulled up and pasted back down previous to our visit.

My birth name was baby girl Rhodenbaugh. My mother's maiden name is Josephine Frances Neuburn age 37, I also found the birth record of one brother who is five years older… Continue

No reviews tonight

I haven't taken the time to review any registries tonight. But I wanted to check in to our small but mighty group... please share your story if you wish, and feel free to discuss what issues you've run up against. This is a support system. Thanks for joining!

Your sister in search,
Sara

G'S Adoption Registry

Another place to search. Pretty good info, but another registry that's hard to search. I don't have a lot of time to review it tonight, but check it out for yourself. I registered my info and searched the message boards.

Another Adoptees Register that is hard to navigate and search

I am Sooo tired of the pathetic search engines/databases that have been created (with good intentions, of course) to assist adoptees and their birth families in search of each other.

Here's another to add to the list:

I was, once again, very excited to find abother registry... but once again, my hopes were dashed at it's ability to search the data. Without a surname, you're pretty sunk from the start. Anyone who was born through a closed adoption without… Continue
